StarLadder Dota 2 Minor: CR4ZY vs. Alliance—Looking Forward

Mar 7, 2020

“We got to pick what we wanted and had the opportunity to play what we practiced, but this time it wasn’t enough,” said our mid player Bryle after the 2-0 loss against Alliance which ended our run at StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3.

Due to the loss against Gambit Esports in the first match of Group B, we faced elimination in the remaining matches at the tournament. The second day of the StarLadder Minor started really good for us, with a win against NoPing E-sports. Although we lost the first match, we managed to bounce back by picking more aggressive and proactive drafts. Our captain Aui_2000 played great in both wins on Oracle, and Bryle showed why he is one of the most talented young players in North America, by putting in good numbers on Ember Spirit and Templar Assassin. In the end, we managed to complete the comeback and secure a 2:1 win over the Brazilian squad.

Alliance proved to be a much tougher opponent, though. One of the favorites of the tournament didn’t have much trouble in containing our early/mid game drafts. We didn’t manage to force them to play on our terms, and strong late-game carries from their side in Faceless Void and Medusa had no trouble in finishing the games once they got enough time and farm. Fast and aggro Dota 2 is something we wanted to play in Kiev, but some teams prepared answers for such a playstyle.

We showed a lot of potential in our first tournament. The guys have been playing together for only a week now, and communication and synergy take much more time to develop. This was definitely a promising start for our Dota 2 roster, and means there’s a bright future for us as we go deeper in the Dota Pro Circuit!
